Paint Strokes

Artist Statement

This piece imitates the process of visual artists using traditional mediums, such as paint, and creating what is the product of many individual strokes. However, the computer’s strokes are unique from humans; they’re sporadic, with varying rotations and positions on the canvas. While the piece may look aesthetically unpleasing during its chaotic development, we get to see how it slowly ties together into a unified and complete work with some time. Although the beauty of this piece takes a bit of time before revealing itself, it shows how the concept of controlled randomness in generative art adds a unique layer to each piece that simply cannot be replicated by humans.
